Android has always stood out because of one core principle: openness. It gives users and developers the freedom to customize, build, and use devices the way they want—without unnecessary restrictions.
Recently, there have been growing concerns about changes that could limit this openness. The petition at Keep Android Open highlights how tighter control over apps, distribution, and system access could reduce user choice and make Android feel more like a closed ecosystem.
That’s why I support this initiative. Keeping Android open means:
- Freedom to install apps outside official stores
- Flexibility for developers to innovate without heavy gatekeeping
- User control over devices they own
If Android loses these, it stops being Android.
